NEXT UPDATE: Josie has moved foster homes; no fault of her own! She is doing beautifully. Foster mom says she is so so happy and loves life and gets along with all her foster siblings including one older female dog. She does not need to be crated and also gets along with cats. Josie had a very tough beginning and deserves all that life has to offer! UPDATE: Josie has been spayed and dew claws have been removed. She looks wonderful, has gained weight, and although "dominant" with other female dogs, she lives with them! She is great with cats. Josie would be wonderful as an only dog or living with males and/or even submissive female dogs. She loves her human and will provide unconditional love. Please give this girl a chance!!!! A first note from Josie's foster mom: This sweet girl was thought, at first, to be very old. But actually is estimated to be between 2-3 years old. She was found wandering the road and brought to Licking County Animal Shelter April 7, 2009 weighing just 26 lbs. (See the third picture --) Even a month later at 30.8 lbs. you still could count every rib. Treatment began for extreme hookworm infestation. After another month, normal weight is achieved and she is free of parasites. Now named Josey, she will need spay and dew claw removal surgery and then will be ready for adoption! She has such beautiful, kind eyes. Social behavior with other dogs fine but "displays" dominance with other females. Very compatible with cats. Loves to snuggle beside you on the couch, very gentle and affectionate. Josie's adoption fee is $200, which includes all vetting (spay/neuter, all vaccinations including rabies, heartworm test & started on prevention), started on flea/tick prevention, and a leash & collar.
